Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) will be delivering more affordable homes in Cornwall after securing a range of bungalows, flats and two-bedroom homes in Liskeard.
PCH is purchasing six affordable homes in Phase Five of the Trevethan Meadows development, which will be made available from Spring 2024 for affordable rent and shared ownership purchase.
Of the six homes, five will be offered for affordable rent to local people with a connection to the area, including a mix of one-bedroom bungalows and flats, as well as a two-bedroom mid-terrace house.
There will also be one two-bedroom end-of-terrace property made available for shared ownership purchase through our sales brand SO Living.
Shared ownership is a government-backed scheme which helps people to get onto the housing ladder by buying a share of a home, and paying a low-cost rent on the remaining share.
The development is being built by Persimmon Homes, a national developer building and selling new homes across the UK. The acquisition follows 39 affordable homes secured by PCH within Phase Three of the development in Liskeard, as well as homes in the surrounding area, and other development sites in Callington and Bodmin.
Alice MacLean, Assistant Project Manager at PCH, said: “We are delighted to partner once again with Persimmon Homes on their latest phase of properties at Trevethan Meadows. The homes are a great opportunity to provide much needed affordable housing to local people and will be a welcome addition to our existing homes in this area.”
Imogen Day, Senior Development Officer at Cornwall Council, said: “We are delighted to see the hand over of 6 affordable homes at Trevethan Meadows to Plymouth Community Homes. These 6 homes are a mix of houses, maisonettes and bungalows which will contribute to the growing range of affordable homes in Liskeard. Cornwall Council are committed to working with Registered Providers such as Plymouth Community Homes to deliver much needed affordable homes to communities across Cornwall.”
Andy Hill, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon, said: “We’re very proud of what we have accomplished at our Trevethan Meadows site in Liskeard and are delighted to be transferring our latest tranche of high-quality properties to Plymouth Community Homes.
“Persimmon is determined to leave a positive and lasting legacy in all the areas in which it builds, and we often realise this through the delivery of vital public infrastructure, section 106 funding and Community Champions’ donations.
“The delivery of market and affordable housing is itself a core element of the community benefit we can deliver and this latest batch of properties will help make a dent in the 25,000-strong housing waiting list in Cornwall.”
